Warrenton Man Kicks In Door, Stole Gun & Items…FREE TO GO under New Missouri Supreme Court Rules

Joseph W Deutch

Joseph W. Deutch, of Warrenton, is accused of forcing his way into a Tuque Road residence and stealing a 9 mm handgun, TV, laptop, two AC units, and other items.

The break in was reported by the homeowner on November 20. Investigators identified Deutch and later arrested him on November 22 charging him with the theft and additional drug related charges.

Deutch was later released and FREE TO GO after a judge released him on his own recognizance under new Missouri Supreme Court rules that went into effect July 1, 2019 which have stripped judges of the judicial discretion to set bail by forcing “catch & release” policies.

The release is yet another example of the thousands of unaccountable releases taking place in Missouri due to relaxed court rules by the Missouri Supreme Court that were implemented in July of 2019.

  • ZERO Bail…just a “pinky promise” to return to court

Warren County deputies have arrested a local man accused of forcing his way into a home to steal a handgun and an assortment of expensive electronics and hardware.

Joseph W. Deutch, 40, of Warrenton, was charged Nov. 22 with second-degree burglary, stealing a firearm and items valued at $750 or more, property damage and felony drug possession.

According to an arrest report, the Warren County Sheriff’s Department connected Deutch to a Nov. 20 break-in at a home on the 22000 block of Tuque Road, southeast of Innsbrook. The homeowner reported that sometime before 1:45 p.m., someone had kicked in his back door and stolen his property.

Items taken from the home included a 9 mm handgun, 34-inch TV, laptop, two window AC units, several power tools and other small supplies. All together, the homeowner told deputies the stolen goods were worth more than $3,700.

The damage to the exterior doorway was estimated at an additional $800.

The sheriff’s department said Deutch was identified as a suspect and was arrested the next day. He allegedly admitted to entering the residence and later selling several pieces of equipment at a pawn shop in Hazelwood.

When asked to show what was in his pockets, Deutch allegedly removed a jar containing methamphetamine.

After being taken to the Warren County Jail, Deutch was released on his own recognizance pending trial.
